Sunday 30 May 2010 Milford Haven N510 42.650’ W0050 02.203’

There are 25 miles of navigable waterway in Milford Haven from Dale in the west to River Cleddau in the east. Locking out from Milford Marina, itself a not inconsequential activity which managed to take some 2 ½ hours before we were free, Alcyone spent the day exploring the Haven. Upstream of the industrial tanker terminals, it becomes a beautiful meandering estuary and river until water depths defeat further exploration. If it was in the west country it would be raved about as an anchorage to visit; because it is west Wales, there were few yachts and masses of empty moorings.

Late afternoon saw us heading west to Dale to moor for the night for an early start to Fishguard. Late evening we could hear loud rock and roll music drifting over the water – imagine our surprise today when we heard on BBC Radio Wales that there was an illegal rave in Dale – Ted has now nearly been to a rave!
