Wednesday 2 June 2010 Aberystwyth N520 24.532’ W0040 05.236’

A day of chores and sightseeing in Aberystwyth, all in superb sunny weather.

Aberystwyth is claimed to be the ‘finest seaside resort in the whole of west Wales’. Of course it could be argued that there is little competition although it is very pleasant walking along the promenade.

Looking at the harbour entrance from the shore, in good weather, gave an interesting perspective. Even with calm conditions waves were breaking on the beach and, most alarmingly, surfers riding the waves adjacent to the harbour entrance. Waves being drawn round the southern breakwater and into the harbour were clear and breaking. The 'local' leading marks of the cardinal post and lamppost also looked odd for the shore.
